Harmonizing The Home With The Pakua
The Pakua is an ancient tool used in Feng Shui, an age old Chinese art created for harmonious placement of objects in the home. In translation its name means wind and water and the Pakua is used to divide the home into nine different yet distinct sectors, each representative of an element of life.
These nine sectors are made up of career located north, in the north east is self cultivation and knowledge, east represents the family, south east is home to the wealth and prosperity sector and in the south you can find the fame corner. The south western sector represents relationships and marriage, helpful people can be represented in the north west and in the centre of the Pakua is health.
Sector for sector, specific enhancements can be made to highlight the positive qualities of these aspects. To ensure a positive flow of chi to the career sector, be sure that the front entry to your house is clean and uncluttered and that the path is clear and well kept. It is considered very fortuitous to paint your door red and to protect your home with a set of fu dogs at the front entrance.
Green and blue are the best colors to use when energising your knowledge and self cultivation area. Place a globe of the world or a bookcase filled with interesting volumes in this corner. Strong, healthy plants and a wind chimes in this corner are also good for enhancing chi in this area.
You can enhance your family sector of the pakua by placing a tall plant in a blue or green pot, or one made of wood. Placing crystals of all colors in this sector are useful for many reasons. Blue crystals improve mental clarity, place green ones for physical health, rose crystals for emotional health and red ones for a boost of energy.
Purple, red and green are used to enhance the wealth sector. Water features or fish tanks are considered extremely fortuitous in the wealth sector, as are plants with round leaves that resemble coins. Place an African Violet or a money plant here for extra oomph.
Use white, grey and black in your helpful people sector. Place a figurine of a guardian angel or helpful spiritual being here. The marriage sector in your home can be enhanced by placing the double happiness symbol here, or a Heart Shaped quartz crystal. Ideal colors for enhancing this sector are red, pink and white.
