Discuss possible sources of error in a measurement experiment using glass, aluminum, and wood?

I have recently been given a lab by one of my teachers and they want to know the sources of error that causes miscalculations in measurement experiments. He said he does not want answers having to do with human error, incorrect measurements, calculation errors, etc. I already have one and its describing how wood changes b/c it expands and retracts due to the temp of the room in which it is measured. I just need a few other examples. I am stumped!

Not sure what the experiment is exactly, but surface roughness is one factor (especially in experiments involving shining light).

Conductivity/Resistivity of conductors changes with changes in temperature.
