Is it okay to drill a few holes into my short arm cast?
I am planning to spray paint the middle section of my short arm cast, but I know that this will block air circulation and possibly cause sores on my arm to develop. To get air in the cast with the spray paint on it, I am planning to drill a few holes in it. I will put a metal ruler behind the spot where the drill will come through to ensure that I don’t get drilled. The drill will drill on the slowest speed possible.
I really do not think it is a good idea to drill holes into your cast. This will interfere with the integrity of the cast and possibly damage your skin.
Putting a metal ruler in your cast is also a bad idea. You could scratch your skin and not know it and possibly get an infection. You should never put anything inside your cast.
There is no air circulation under your cast so it will be safe to spray paint it if you want.
