False positives/ false negatives on triple screen test?
What are the stats on false postives on the triple screen (for trisomy/downs/nural tube defects)
What are the stats on false NEGATIVES on the triple screen (for trisomy/downs/nural tube defects)
With pregnancy tests, false negatives are common but false postives are more rare. Just wondering as applied to the triple screen test. Thanks!!
Oh, I was not advised by the doctors to abort regardless of my screen results-
I tested positive for my triple screen test but guess what my daughter was born healthy with no problems!!! What I do know is there is a very fine line when to take the test if you are just a few days off that test can be wrong. When our test came back positive I was worried and scared so my doctor sent me to a specialist who did ultrasounds to look for main signs, none were found and I was giving the option of amniocentesis. We decided not to do it because of the risk of miscarriage was to high, besides we would love our child no matter what, good thing we didn’t do it because there would of been no reason for that procedure and we may have lost a perfectly healthy baby over a wrong test.
